Types of logos:

While there are an almost infinite number of variables that are possible with
any given logo design project, we have found that most logo design types, or
styles, will fall into one of four basic categories -- Iconic/Symbol,
Logotype, Illustrative, and Lettermarks. Determining what type of logo treatment
each client prefers prior to start of work will save time and keep logo design
time and costs to a minimum.

|
Iconic / Symbols: |
 |
The most
common, but often the most difficult to design, these types of logos
generally feature simplified graphic symbols that reflect an aspect
of the company and/or product, and can be used solo, or with text. |

Logotypes: |
 |
Favored
by Fortune 500 companies, logotypes are typographic logos. They are
simple in design, using text only, or text combined with a basic
visual element. Well designed logotypes are both memorable and
easily identifiable. |

|
Illustrative Logos: |
 |
Illustrative logos can be quite complex as they are an illustrated
representation of some aspect of the company or product portrayed.
These can be developed from a company's name, business concept or
even a mascot. |

Lettermarks: |
 |
Similar
to a logotype, a lettermark is a wholly typographic mark, usually
involving initials or abbreviations of a company's name. The
representation of the letters essentially becomes the symbol of the
company. |
